Все любители техники Apple читали живые трансляции из центра искусств «Йерба Буэна», в котором Apple показывала новые продукты. Это не только большое событие для интересующихся, но и первая крупная презентация с того времени, как умер Стив Джобс.
Не будем говорить об успехах Apple на почве продажи планшетов и устройств на основе iOS вообще, объявлению которых глава компании Тим Кук посвятил некоторое время. Перейдём сразу к продуктам.
Презентация началась с демонстрации обновлённой телеприставки Apple TV. Теперь она способна воспроизводить фильмы с разрешением до 1080p (предыдущая поддерживала лишь 720p). Apple TV теперь также подключается к онлайновому сервису iCloud, то есть теперь фильмы с сериалами можно хранить «в облаке». Изменился и интерфейс. Похоже, дело идёт к тому, что вскоре для Apple TV появятся приложения. Новые, похожие на айфонные, иконки заставляют об этом задуматься. 
Но, конечно, самым ожидаемым анонсом стал новый iPad. Слухи о том, каким он будет, гуляли давно, и практически все они подтвердились — за исключением одного. Говорили, что эта модель будет называться не iPad 3, а iPad HD. В действительности она называется просто iPad, и, вероятно, так же будут называться и её улучшенные варианты в будущем.
Что касается тех прогнозов и слухов, которые сбылись, то вот они:
  • Retina Display:
    •  экран с разрешением 2048×1536 пикселей. Как и в случае с Retina Display, которым оборудованы последние модели iPhone, смысл названия в том, что для глаза пиксели на экране почти не видны и картинка воспринимается как единое целое
  • Процессор A5X:
    •  по прежнему двуядерный, как и в iPad 2, но дополненный четырёхъядерным графическим сопроцессором.
  • Пятимегапиксельная камера
    •  с улучшенной оптикой, замысловатым инфракрасным фильтром, автофокусом, распознаванием лиц и записью HD-видео с разрешением 1080p.
  • Он толще и тяжелее:
    •  новые дисплей и процессор потребовали более ёмкого аккумулятора, который прибавил планшету лишние полмиллиметра толщины и пятьдесят грамм веса.
  • Поддержка LTE
  • Цена:
    •  499 долларов за младшую модель — столько же стоил iPad 2
  • Диктовка текста:

  • iPhoto:
    •  эта программа для обработки и хранения фотографий раньше была доступна только для «Маков». Впрочем, версия для iOS и выглядит совсем по-другому и, что поразительно, обладает более широкой функциональностью, чем её маковский прототип. Помимо богатых возможностей ретуши и оптимизации изображения, в программе есть возможность собирать так называемые «фотожурналы» — тематические наборы фотографий. Кроме фотографий, в фотожурналы можно вставлять виджеты погоды, карт, календаря, причём все они, разумеется, будут относиться к дате и местоположению описываемого события.
  • GarageBand
  • появилась возможность групповых репетиций, во время которых люди с несколькими планшетами сидят бок о бок и играют под один заданный темп
  • добавились смычковые инструменты
  • теперь с помощью GarageBand можно редактировать нотную запись
  • программа позволяет сохранять проект в iCloud
  • можно закачивать музыку на всевозможные социальные сервисы
  • iMovie:
    •  новую версию любительского видеоредактора снабдили генератором клипов на основе шаблонов.
  • iWork:
    •  в «рабочих» приложениях Numbers, Pages и Keynote появились новые диаграммы, графические элементы, а также, конечно, поддержка сверхчёткого дисплея нового iPad.
На презентации присутствовали представители сторонних фирм-разработчиков ПО, которые показали свои продукты для нового планшета. Autodesk продемонстрировал приложение для рисования Sketchboook, компания Epic — игру Infinity Blade: Dungeons, внешне напоминающую Diablo, а представитель Namco — симулятор самолёта Flight Gamblers.
Ну и, наконец, Apple выпустила обновление iOS 5.1 и оставила в продаже младшую версию iPad 2, снизив его цену до 399 долларов. Вот, собственно, и всё.
